Day two of Exile

Marshfield, MA - Friday July 25th - 2am
Alexis Vallier wakes her slumbering mother crying and saying that she thinks she needs a thermometer. Her mother takes her temp and realizes that she has a fever of 102 degrees.
Not a big deal on a normal day but, this, of course, was the day before her mother's "big" night out for the launch of the "Lace Reader".

Saturday - 8am
Mother and Father discuss pros and cons of dragging Alexis to Quincy to have the fever checked out even though it has not come back. The child is prone to ear infections so they decide to make the trip even though the mother still holds out hope of going to her party. It's decided (stupidly in forethought) that the older child will go as well to have a small mole checked at the same time.

Saturday - 11am, 11:30, noon
Doctor's office enjoys torturing mother's who wait until Saturday morning to bring their kids in. They make them wait for an hour in the germ filled waiting room with all the other bitchy Mom's and snot nosed kids.
Result: No ear infection, mole is a wart and will go away.

Saturday -12:30
Stuck in Cape traffic coming back from Quincy, mother bursts into tears, recovers after speaking with father who is in a particularly good mood (probably because he didn't just have to sit at Doctor's for an hour and a half!)

Saturday - 2:00
Father valiantly tells mother to go to party & have a good time. Loads kids into car and heads off to Woburn for Vallier/MacEachern family party.

Saturday - evening
Lace Reader launch partyin Salem with Yia Yia. Great weather, fun people, lots of wine and appetizers. Overall a great time. Mother sleeps in Salem.

Sunday - 7:30am
Mother wakes are realizes if she leaves right now she still won't be in Marshfield until almost 9am which is pretty late so she gets going but first has some food with Yia Yia.

Sunday - 9am
Mother pulls in driveway, father tells mother Vallier family is coming for lunch and Brooke has been coughing alot. Mother starts cooking pasta salad and cutting green beans, etc. Brooke coughs and coughs.

Sunday - noon
Vallier family arrives, Brooke takes herself up to her room for a nap (completely unheard of). Alexis is perfect angel during the party. Brooke wakes fairly quickly and coughs all day. Eventually throws up from coughing and party, strangely, breaks up.

Sunday - night
Brooke up all night. Decision made that she'll have to miss school field trip next day to Children's museum which she is NOT happy about. Alexis will be going on field trip which doesn't help.

Monday - 9:30
Mother & Brooke at doctor's office again, Marshfield this time, Brooke has bronchitis. Bron-freakin'-chitis in July? Mother may have said just that to doctor who perused records and reported that she has had bronchitis last two Julys in a row. Ridiculous.

Tuesday (today)
Brooke slept all night but still not 100% so mother kept BOTH kids home and switched daycare days so kids go to school tomorrow.

So that about breaks it down. The upside is that both kids realize they are getting a treat staying at home so they are fairly low key.

Pray for me people, will you?
