Honest to God

I am sitting here minding my own business waiting for the snow to start, kids playing nicely, when Brooke comes over and asks, (and I kid you not), "When mommies and daddies have babies how does the baby get in there?" No matter how cool you think you are or how prepared you assume you will be this question sends your mind racing with all the possible ways you could screw this answer up and guarantee a therapist $250 an hour for many years.

I think I did alright even though my answer elicited a step back and an "ewww" from Brooke. Fine with me. I wasn't graphic so don't worry my conservative friends. I tried the basic when two people love each other business but she wasn't having any of it so I had to explain about the sleeping together part, again, "But how does it actually get in there?" So I had to explain Mom & Dad parts and used a seed reference while trying to stifle my giggles at the thought of having to explain this. She finally walked away and is back to playing again so I think I can return to breathing.....for now.

Done!

I'm done with the book. A select few will be getting copies this month and, depending on their feedback, I'll be hunting for an agent. If I could write full-time it would be a dream come true but better make sure the book doesn't suck first, huh?

Brooke and Lexi are doing well, loving their advents calendars and all the hoopla up to the big day! Brooke already got a skateboard and Lexi got a Yo Gabba Gabba dancemat (if you don't know what that is count yourself lucky) from Santa. We went to Carol's holiday party this past weekend and had a great time!

Winter in N.E. makes for some seriously long, boring, tv-watching days which no one wants to read about but I'll try to pay more attention to the everyday cutieties (funny things the kids say) so that I can blog more often! The problem is their conversations are getting longer and Mommies memory is getting shorter - not too good for relating the stories five days later.
